What is provided ?
All Riding, Meals and accommodation (except for lunch on the day ride).

What do I need to bring ?
Although there are a limited number of hats, boots and body protectors. The centre advises that residential guests should aim to bring their own. ( Look at Kit List for more information )

Do I need to bring Towels and Toiletries ?
Yes: Towels and Toiletries are NOT provided by the centre.

What other kit should I bring ?
We recommend that guests bring waterproof clothing and enough changes of clothes for their stay as there are no laundry facilities. Occasionally during the summer the centre takes children for a paddle in the river and therefore swim suits and jelly shoes are necessary.

How much spending money do I need ?
There is a Tuck shop throughout the summer, so spending money for the Tuck shop, day ride lunch and Friday afternoon visit to Helmsley will be required.

I have never ridden before does this matter ?
It does not matter how experienced you are, or how novice you are the centre caters for all.

What is there to do in the evening ?
For children we have a tack and turnout competition throughout the week and after riding at 4pm tack cleaning takes place. We also have a games room. For adults the nearest pub is just over a mile and an easy walk, adults are also welcome to bring their own drinks.

What sort of instruction is given ?
Stable management, guests are encouraged to care for their own pony/horse. General guidance and instruction is given on the ride with additional assistance when necessary.

Do you do any Dressage or Jumping ?
Throughout the summer, the centre organizes a competition for Saturday morning and practice takes place during the week.

What is the accommodation like ?
Accommodation is in bunk style dorms. There are no en suite accommodations, guests have their own lounge, dining room and games room. Guests can request a private room If preferred, accommodation can be arranged at a local hotel/guest house.

Do I need to take out holiday insurance ?
Riding is considered a high risk sport and accidents can happen! We recommend that riders take out an insurance which will cover this kind of sport. To assist you with this there is a link to an insurance broker who specialises in this kind of insurance on our links page.
